• IRSS is a series of seven satellite. They are 

1. IRSS-1A - Launched with PSLV-XL C22 in 1st July 2013
2. IRSS-1B - Launched With PSLV-XL C24 in 4th April 2014
3. IRSS-1C - Launched Before 2015
4. IRSS-1D - Launched Before 2015
5. IRSS-1E - Launched in 2015
6. IRSS-1E - Launched in 2015
7. IRSS-1F - Launched in 2015

• The total cost of this project was 1,320 Crore.
• It is similar to US Global Positioning System(GPS), Russia's Glonass and Europe's Galileo. 
• China and Japan too have similar systems named Beidou and Japanese Quasi Zenith Satellite System respectively.
• IRSS will function from a geostationary orbit of 36,000 km with a positional accuracy of 10 to 20 meters.
